I was very pleased that we more than doubled last years number, and the hammer came down for Javin Robinson of Lucky Learners and the Grand Champion at $2000.00, and Abigail Lillibridge of Classy Country Kids for, I believe $1100.00. My sincere appreciation to the winning Bidders, and of course the most important bidders of the night, the back up bidders. I do love this County that took me as one of its own some 25 years ago.
When we auctioneers stop talking fast, we also ring, or relay bids, for our colleagues. The last animal of the night was a lot of fun, a turkey, with a young lady that had the misfortune of being the last seller of the 2018 Coshocton County Fair. My mentor James F Nelson, had graciously placed Newly minted auctioneer David Angelo in to call some bids, as he had me, so long ago. Bedraggled bidders were tired and drained from helping so many. It was then, the magic happened. Struggling to get a bid, we found a bidder. Now we needed a dance partner. There, mission accomplished... however the bidding is understandably light.... until.... our own Paul Bratton, Auctioneer, gathered with a bidder and teamed up, then added another bidder.... I got up on the benches encouraging the bidding war, David pounded the numbers. Eventually, the hammer came down at $1050.00 for the lass at the end of the line, to the cheers of what was left of the crowd.
My thanks to the companies I work for and with for your support... yes, I spent some of your money and will bill you.... Ben Schafer Realty, Ed and Ben Schafer Auctioneers, Gryphon Auction Group, and Shawn J Dostie, Auctioneer.
You see, life is not always about money and success. Paying it forward, community, love of our children.... THAT is what life is about.
